Privacy Policy “AlertForDisaster” app

Last Updated: January 21, 2026

1. Introduction

AlertForDisaster (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our disaster monitoring services.

2. Information Collection

  • Location Data: To provide accurate proximity alerts for disasters within 500km, the App requires access to your device’s precise location (GPS and network-based).
  • Background Location: If “Background Monitoring” is enabled in your settings, the App will access your location even when the app is closed or not in use to ensure you receive timely emergency alarms.
  • Device Information: We may collect basic device information (model, OS version) to ensure the compatibility of system alarm tones and notification popups.

3. Use of Information

We use the collected location data solely to:

  • Calculate the distance between your current position and active disaster events.
  • Trigger the System Alarm Tune and Emergency Popups if an event is within the 500km safety radius.
  • We do not store your location history on our servers; location processing happens locally on your device.

4. Data Sharing

  • Third-Party APIs: We fetch disaster data from public feeds. No personally identifiable information (PII) or location data is shared with these third-party providers.
  • No Sale of Data: We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your location data to outside parties.

5. User Control

You have full control over your data through the App’s Settings page:

  • Disable Monitoring: You can toggle off “Background Monitoring” at any time to stop location access in the background.
  • Permissions: You can revoke location permissions via your Android System Settings.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including the use of Foreground Services and Encrypted SharedPreferences, to protect your alert settings and preferences.
