1. Introduction
DialTeacher (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application DialTeacher (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Full name — collected when you sign in with Google
- Email address — collected from your Google account
- Profile photo — collected from your Google account
- Teacher profile details — subject, location, qualification, experience, fee, bio (entered by teachers)
- Contact details — phone number and WhatsApp number (entered by teachers and students voluntarily)
- Student requirements — subject needed, location, budget, description, and contact details (entered by students)
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Firebase User ID (UID) — a unique identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication
- Device information — basic device data collected by Firebase for crash reporting and analytics
2.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your location automatically
- We do not access your camera, microphone, or contacts
- We do not track your browsing history
- We do not collect payment card details (all payments are handled by Google Play Billing)
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account — using Google Sign-In via Firebase Authentication
- Display teacher profiles — so students can find tutors in the App
- Display student requirements — so teachers can find students who need tuition
- Control contact visibility — contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email) are only shown to other users when the teacher has an active Premium subscription
- Process in-app purchases — Premium teacher subscriptions handled via Google Play Billing
- Admin moderation — the App administrator reviews and approves or rejects teacher profiles and student posts before they appear publicly
- Improve the App — using anonymised usage data
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Within the App — teacher profiles are visible to all logged-in students. Student requirements are visible to all logged-in teachers. Contact details (phone, WhatsApp, email) are only visible when the teacher holds an active Premium subscription.
- Firebase (Google) — we use Firebase Authentication and Firestore (Google Cloud services) to store and manage user data. Google’s privacy policy applies: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Play Billing — payments are processed entirely by Google. We do not see or store your payment information.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose your information if required by law or to protect our rights.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All user data is stored securely on Google Firebase Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud servers.
- We use Firebase Authentication to manage secure login — we never store passwords.
- Access to contact details is protected by Firestore security rules — only authenticated users can read data, and contact details are gated behind premium status.
- While we use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
6. In-App Purchases
DialTeacher offers a one-time Premium subscription for teachers via Google Play Billing. When you make a purchase:
- The transaction is processed entirely by Google Play
- We receive confirmation of the purchase but do not receive your payment card details
- The purchase unlocks visibility of your contact details to students and allows you to see student contact details
- Refunds are subject to Google Play’s refund policy
7. Children’s Privacy
DialTeacher is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data in your profile (you can edit your profile directly in the App)
- Delete your account and associated data — contact us at the email below
- Withdraw consent — you may stop using the App at any time
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 11.
9. Data Retention
- We retain your data for as long as your account is active
- If you stop using the App, your data remains in our system unless you request deletion
- To request full deletion of your data, contact us at the email below and we will remove it within 30 days
