Effective date: June 24, 2026 · Version 1.0
Short version: HQ Camera works entirely on your device. It does not collect your photos, videos, or any personal information. It does not send anything to the internet. It has no accounts, no analytics, and no ads. The permissions it requests are used only to operate the camera and save files to your own device.
1. Overview
HQ Camera (“the App”, “we”, “our”) is a native Android camera application. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.
The App operates entirely offline and locally on your device. It does not have a backend server, does not require an account or sign-in, and does not transmit any data over the internet. No personal data is collected, stored remotely, or shared with any third party.
2. Permissions we request — and why
The App requests the minimum Android permissions needed to function as a camera. Each permission is used solely for the described purpose and for no other reason.
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| CAMERA | Required to access the device’s camera hardware for capturing photos and recording video. Without this permission the App cannot function. |
| RECORD_AUDIO | Required to capture microphone audio during video recording. The App applies on-device noise reduction (NoiseSuppressor, AcousticEchoCanceler) to improve audio quality. Audio is saved only to your local storage — it is never transmitted or processed off-device. |
| WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (Android 9 and below only) | Required on older Android versions (API ≤ 28) to save photos and videos to the Pictures/HQCamera and Movies/HQCamera folders on your device. On Android 10 and above the App uses the MediaStore API instead, which does not require this permission. |
3. Data we collect
Photos and videos — The App saves photos and videos to your device’s local storage (the Pictures/HQCamera and Movies/HQCamera folders in your Gallery). These files remain entirely on your device and are under your full control. The App does not copy, upload, or access these files for any purpose other than saving them at the moment of capture.
Nothing else. The App does not collect, store, or process any other information. Specifically, the App does not collect:
No name, email, or account dataNo location or GPS dataNo device identifiers or advertising IDsNo usage analytics or crash reportsNo contacts or calendar dataNo biometric dataNo internet traffic from the App
4. How data is used
Camera and microphone access is used exclusively in real time to provide the viewfinder, capture a photo, or record a video at the moment you press the shutter or record button.
Audio captured through the microphone is processed locally on your device using Android’s built-in audio effects (NoiseSuppressor, AcousticEchoCanceler, AutomaticGainControl) and encoded directly into the video file saved to your Gallery. No raw or processed audio is retained by the App or transmitted anywhere.
The App does not perform any background processing and does not access the camera or microphone except when the App is actively open and in use.
5. Data sharing and third parties
We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data to share. The App does not include any advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, social media SDKs, or any other third-party libraries that transmit data from your device.
The only network-connected component in the software supply chain is the Google Play delivery infrastructure — which is operated by Google and governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, not ours. Once the App is installed, it makes no network connections.
6. Data retention and deletion
All photos and videos created by the App are stored in your device’s Gallery (MediaStore). You can view, share, or delete them at any time using your device’s Gallery or Files app, or any other standard Android file management tool.
Uninstalling the App removes the App and its cache from your device. Photos and videos already saved to your Gallery will remain unless you delete them manually, which is consistent with standard Android behaviour for media files.
Because no data is ever sent to us, there is nothing held on any server for us to delete on your behalf.
7. Security
Because the App does not transmit data, there is no data in transit to protect. Photos and videos saved to your Gallery are protected by your device’s own security model (screen lock, storage encryption, Android permission system).
We recommend keeping your device operating system and the App updated to benefit from the latest Android security patches.
8. Children’s privacy
The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). Because no data is collected, the App complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations by design.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, privacy laws (such as the GDPR in the European Union, or CCPA in California) may grant you rights including the right to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you.
Since the App holds no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side. All media files are on your own device and you have full control over them at all times.
You may revoke the Camera or Microphone permission at any time via Settings → Apps → HQ Camera → Permissions on your Android device. Revoking camera permission will prevent the App from functioning. Revoking microphone permission will prevent video audio capture but will not otherwise affect photo or video capture.
10. Changes to this policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the revised version will be published at the same URL and the “Effective date” at the top of this page will be updated. For significant changes, we will post a notice on the App’s Google Play Store listing.
Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
